Example of target to promote a sustainable economy

By 2030, we will generate 80% of our sales with sustainable products and services.

  • Measure 1Develop sustainable business models

Adapt existing business models to current and future sustainability requirements. Reduce your dependence on non-renewable raw materials and prioritise the development of circular business models. Build sustainable products/services. Work together with your key customers, suppliers and relevant industry representatives. New, more sustainable solutions can often be achieved across company boundaries. This might mean that one company's 'waste' becomes the raw material for another, and that products manufactured from the recycled material are bought back by the first. However, it can also mean that industry representatives work together to transform a business model to align it with sustainability goals.

  • Measure 2Set new standards

Make sustainable products and services the standard. Ensure that your core offering is also your most sustainable. If you think within existing framework conditions, many sustainable business models are difficult to achieve. It is therefore essential that you also work to change these conditions, seek dialogue with suppliers and customers, and become politically active. Look for joint solutions on how you can contribute to the sustainable transformation of the economy.

  • Measure 3Promote industry-wide cooperation

Participate in or initiate industry-wide efforts to drive sustainable transformation. Focus on a few core topics that have the greatest impact on sustainability. Examples include a joint approach to avoidable food waste, the development of sustainable infrastructure, sector agreements for the implementation of the circular economy, joint efforts to regenerate ecosystems and much more.

Relevance & added value

Current socio-ecological developments require a sustainable transformation of the economy. Global warming and the loss of biodiversity can only be tackled with the support of the economy. Companies can benefit from this development if they take a proactive approach to the transformation, develop new sustainable business models, enter into intra-industry and cross-industry collaborations and also commit to shaping the political framework conditions for a sustainable economy.
