Example of target for setting up a recycling system

By 2030, we will reduce our tCO2eq emissions in production by at least 40% by ensuring that all devices are recycled and reused.

  • Measure 1Conduct an inventory and analysis of recycling options.

Recycling potential through component analysis: Conduct a detailed inventory of your device components to identify and maximise recycling potential. Analyse specifically how recycled material such as plastic containers can be reused internally (or externally if necessary).

Use of recyclable materials in product development: When developing new products, favour materials that are easily recyclable. Additionally, design products to enable easy dismantling and material separation.

  • Measure 2Implement a circular economy programme.

Sustainable product return programme: Develop a programme for the reuse and return of products, including the return of faulty devices and machines for repair and redistribution by authorised service providers. Ensure recyclable materials are prioritised.

Sustainable supplier selection: When choosing suppliers (especially for IT hardware), actively consider sustainability criteria.

  • Measure 3Raise awareness of the circular economy and recycling

Internal knowledge transfer: Hold regular interactive theme days on the circular economy and recycling with your staff and collaborate with organisations that can serve as examples of best practice or obtain materials from specialist organisations such as SwissRecycle.

Engagement with suppliers and partners: Brief partner companies on these topics, provide information material and jointly plan concrete next steps for implementing recycling processes.

Relevance & added value

Setting up a recycling system in Swiss IT companies reduces environmental impact, utilises resources efficiently and promotes sustainable business practices. This strengthens their environmentally conscious image, saves costs in the long term and fulfils legal requirements, which overall contributes to ecological responsibility and the company's success.
