This company in German-speaking Switzerland collects, stores and sells used machine components for vehicles. In addition to the reuse approach, the company is pursuing a clear strategy to make its business processes more environmentally and socially sustainable. This includes measures for social equality and staff training as well as the inclusion of suppliers in the sustainability goals.

Goal 1

Measures

  • Optimise logistics and distribution processes to avoid emissions , e.g. through implementing a dynamic route planning and fleet management system to enable efficient planning of the vehicle fleet with alternative drive technologies. Minimise delivery and throughput times when delivering goods to recipients thanks to central location selection or modern picking technologies and automated warehousing.
  • Introduce and integrate tCO2eq emissions offsetting projects such as certified reforestation projects and reporting on the projects and offsetting.
  • Integrate tCO2eq emissions into operational and financial KPIs according to science-based targets for Scope 1-3, e.g. CO2-equivalent emissions (tCO2eq) per storage unit or transport kilometre, total energy consumption of storage facilities or number of empty runs.
  • Introduce mandatory training for tCO2eq emissions-reduced driving to reduce the emissions of the sales fleet and at the same time prioritise virtual interactions with our customers instead of on-site appointments.

Goal 2

By 2027, 90% of our energy consumption in storage and goods distribution will come from renewable sources.

Measures

  • Integrate energy efficiency measures in warehouse and distribution processes, e.g. participate in the working group of the Swiss association Netzwerk Logistik  and implement the results of work on fully automated warehouses and intelligent planning systems, systems for heat recovery and energy-efficient storage and cooling technology.
  • Install solar panels on the company roof, which feed energy into the electric vehicle fleet.
  • Switch to renewable energy for office and factory buildings by switching to an energy supplier with 100% renewable energy.
  • Perform energy audits and include in reporting.

Goal 3

By 2027, we will achieve an average gender equality of 40% in all positions.

Measures

  • Develop and implement a targeted recruitment strategy including inclusive and neutral job adverts, platforms and job exchanges, and female talent development in cooperation with educational institutions.
  • Promote an inclusive corporate culture and adapt the working environment, e.g. through female leadership programmes or role models, flexible working time models such as remote working or flexitime, and regular training and awareness-raising events on the topic of diversity and inclusion.
  • Implement a mentoring and development programme, e.g. participation in MOVEMENT'32 in the Women and Familly project or tailored development plans and further training opportunities that account for family planning or menopause.
  • Provide support to help staff balance family and career, e.g. daycare centre assistance.

Goal 4

By 2028, our staff mobility/transport should emit 20% less tCO2eq emissions compared to 2022.

Measures

  • Set up an internal working group to develop innovative projects promoting sustainable mobility among staff.
  • Submit projects to the federal government's KOMO support programs.
  • Produce half-yearly internal reports on staff transport options and encourage their use.
  • Launch bike hire subscriptions. Boost sustainable mobility through targeted promotions, information campaigns, staff incentives and events (e.g. participation in the Bike to Work competition).
