This Swiss-based logistics company, which specialises in the temperature-controlled transport of food and pharmaceutical products, has already put in place comprehensive ecological measures to reduce its environmental impact. The company follows a clear strategy to minimise its carbon footprint, particularly in the transport sector, which accounts for more than 90% of it. In addition to improving transport energy efficiency, the company places great importance on holistic sustainability and also involves its suppliers in this goal to achieve a comprehensive reduction in environmental impact.

Goal 1

Bis 2026 reduzieren wir die tCO2eq-Emissionen unserer Fahrzeugflotte um 30%, durch den vermehrten Einsatz alternativer Kraftstoffe.

Measures

  • Replace the current diesel fleet gradually with fossil-free alternatives
  • Set up LNG tank infrastructure and vehicles in partnership with organisations in our value chain. This includes installing the necessary equipment on our premises and ensuring access to external LNG filling stations at partner organisations.
  • Switch from fossil LNG to renewable biogas. Make the necessary investments in technology and staff training to ensure safe and efficient LNG handling.

Goal 2

By 2026, we will cut average fuel consumption per vehicle by 15% compared to 2022.

Measures

  • Hire a driver coach and provide support and training for truck drivers on new vehicle technologies and efficient driving style, vehicle checks and maintenance, e.g. adjusting roof spoilers, proper use of air conditioning and seat heating, and checking tyre pressure.
  • Purchase a driving simulator for training in sustainable and safe driving.
  • Optimise route planning with partner organisations along the supply chain to adjust delivery times and quantities, achieving better pallet usage, an improved store network and streamlined delivery processes. Upgrade to software that enables dynamic route planning by identifying and integrating planning uncertainties as dynamic events and elements for more efficient and environmentally friendly routes.

Goal 3

By 2026, we will increase the recyclability of our entire volume of packaging materials to at least 70%.

Measures

  • Switch to more sustainable packaging alternatives, including disposable packaging, with corresponding certification for at least 80% of all shipments.* *Certified packaging includes ISO14001, FSC, Cradle to Cradle certification, sustainable materials (FSC wood or paper, recycled cardboard or plastic), waste reduction (eco-designed packaging), compostability, and reusability (except for medical use). The proportion of our global carbon footprint shown is currently under review.
  • Increase use of unmixed plastic for clean product packaging, which can be recycled in future if plastic cannot be avoided for hygiene reasons.
  • Work with customers to develop processes for shared use of reusable packaging. Convert internal transport boxes to reusable boxes meeting sustainable standards, such as the maximum possible service life.
