This Swiss retail and wholesale company with around 90,000 employees had already successfully implemented various measures in the areas of sustainable product range, environment and climate protection, workforce and social commitment. Based on the expectations of customers and other stakeholders, the company decided to systematise its commitment to sustainability and set itself measurable targets. The subsequent analysis showed the greatest potential in the areas of supply chain responsibility, social responsibility and net zero emissions by 2050.

Goal 1

We have transparency and traceability along the supply chain for 75% of the critical raw materials used in our own brands.

Measures

  • Expand and promote our own brands Origine/Ursprung/Vonatur: Guaranteed traceability right through to production.
  • Continue expansion of data collection including product origin.
  • For critical raw materials: Comply with sustainable minimum standards, guarantee traceability right back to cultivation and production, comply with animal welfare standards.

Goal 2

85% of our own-brand suppliers with production in risk countries have a valid social standard audit or certificate, 80% of which are rated 'good'.

  • Develop a policy statement on environmental protection and human rights.
  • Implement human rights and environmental due diligence.
  • Introduce a complaints mechanism.

Goal 3

By 2050, we will be a net-zero company.

Measures

  • 75% of our strategically important suppliers confirm the implementation of scientifically based climate targets.
  • We are increasing the proportion of renewable energy sources to 80%.
  • We are reducing absolute energy consumption by 8% compared to 2021.
  • 65% of our goods transport is carried out using low-emissions means of transport.
