This eastern Swiss industrial company with around 15,000 employees had already successfully implemented various measures in corporate ecology and occupational health management. Due to an upcoming new strategy period, the company decided to systematise its commitment sustainability and set measurable targets. The subsequent analysis revealed the greatest potential in the sale of sustainable products, supply chain sustainability and accident reduction.

Goal 1

By 2025, we will generate 70% of our sales with products, systems or solutions that have a social or environmental benefit.

Measures

  • Define environmental, social and economic benefits that show improvement compared to the previous generation.  For example, lower CO2 emissions; lower energy and/or water consumption; biodegradable, recyclable and/or recycled materials to increase longevity; improved ease of use, improved user health and safety; improved efficiency and/or productivity compared to the previous generation.
  • Improve product energy efficiency.
  • Increase use of recycled components as part of the circular economy.

Goal 2

By 2025, we will assess 80% of our procurement spending for sustainability.

Measures

  • Set up supplier assessments focusing on sustainability performance.
  • Work with suppliers to highlight relevant risk categories and support sustainability-related improvements.
  • Maintain ongoing EcoVadis assessments to help suppliers continuously improve their sustainability efforts.

Goal 3

By 2025, we will reduce our accident rate by 30% compared to the base year 2020.

Measures

  • Introduce ISO 45001-certified management system globally for occupational health and safety.
  • Expand the campaign to raise risk awareness and strengthen safety-conscious work attitudes and safety culture.
  • Report accidents consistently, including cause analysis and description of corrective measures implemented within three days.
